What is the cost of tuition?

  • 30 minutes weekly: $165 per month

  • 60 minutes weekly or two 30-minute lessons weekly: $275 per month

What are the available lesson times?

Lessons are available in 30 or 60-minute time slots from Monday to Thursday, between 3 PM and 8 PM. Earlier times can be arranged for adult students.

Are the music lessons one-on-one or in a group?

All lessons at Monmouth Music Academy are one-on-one for either 30 or 60 minutes.

Do you offer adult lessons?

Our school values the presence of adult students and recognizes their significance. Regardless of age and skill level, we warmly welcome adults who are interested in pursuing their musical aspirations. We believe that music is a continuous journey that can be embarked on at any point in life. Whether it's starting from scratch or relearning an instrument, it's never too late to begin.

Is there a long-term commitment?

Our program operates on a month-to-month basis, which means that students are not bound by long-term commitments. If a student decides to withdraw from lessons, they can do so by notifying us at least one week before the start of the upcoming month.

What methodologies do you utilize at your music school?

We believe in a comprehensive approach to music education, utilizing renowned methodologies such as Hal Leonard, Michael Aaron, Alfred, and Suzuki. The Hal Leonard method offers a well-rounded curriculum that covers music theory, technique, and performance, catering to students of all ages and skill levels. Will students who take an instrument learn to read music?

Yes, learning to read music is a fundamental aspect of studying any musical instrument. It is not only a skill but also a gateway to a deeper understanding and appreciation of music, enabling students to express themselves musically and pursue their musical passions with confidence and proficiency.

Do you offer a trial lesson?

Certainly! We provide a one-time trial lesson for $40, allowing you to experience the instrument of your preference for 30 minutes. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to meet the instructor and explore the facilities at Monmouth Music Academy during your visit.

Can I take two instruments during one lesson?

Each lesson is designed to focus on one instrument at a time. Our lessons are structured to ensure maximum learning and progress, and therefore each lesson is a minimum of 30 minutes per instrument. This allows our instructors to give personalized attention and guidance tailored to each instrument's unique techniques and challenges. If you're interested in learning multiple instruments, we will schedule separate lessons for each instrument to fully explore and develop your musical abilities.

Do the students perform in a recital?

At Monmouth Music Academy, we conduct recitals every spring and fall, providing our students with a unique opportunity to showcase their talent in front of their loved ones. These events are an excellent way for students to not only perform but also appreciate the musical abilities of their peers at the academy. Participation in recitals is voluntary for students.

Can I rent an instrument from your school?

Renting an instrument at Monmouth Music Academy is easy! We offer a month-to-month rental program for most instruments.

Can I sit in on my child's private music lesson?

We have an open-door policy that allows one parent or guardian to sit in on a lesson if they wish. While some students prefer to have a supportive adult present during their lesson, others may find it distracting. We respect the individual preferences and learning styles of each student and strive to create a comfortable and conducive learning environment for all.

What styles of music are taught at Monmouth Music Academy?

Our instructors teach all styles, including classical, jazz, rock, pop, R&B, and more.

Do I need a piano at home to take piano lessons?

It is ideal that you have an acoustic/electric piano at home, but you can purchase a small electric keyboard to practice on.

Do I need drums at home to take drum lessons?

It is ideal that you have a full drum set to practice at home, but you can purchase a drum pad or snare drum to practice on.

Do I need a guitar to take guitar lessons?

We require all students to have their own guitar, which we offer for purchase. While students are permitted to use our guitars during their trial lesson, they must have their own guitar as a registered student. This policy ensures that students have consistent access to an instrument that meets their specific needs and facilitates their progress.
